Who Should Attend?
This program is appropriate for speech-language pathologists, students currently enrolled in a speech language pathology program, and special education teachers who are interested in learning about available iPad apps to use to facilitate oral and written communication skills. 

 

Program Summary
The purpose of this presentation is to provide information and demonstrate various iPad apps which can be used to improve oral and written communication skills.  Topics will include:  locating appropriate apps, using iPads for assessment purposes, articulation apps, receptive and expressive language apps, social/pragmatic apps, data collection, low-tech and high tech AAC apps, and identifying motivating apps and determining ways to utilize them in therapy.

 

Learner Objectives
Participants will be able to:
1.  Demonstrate the ability to locate various applications available on the market.
2.  Demonstrate use of applications focusing on articulation, oral motor, language, social/pragmatic, social cognition, and fluency skills.
3.  Identify ways to adapt motivating apps (not designed specifically for Speech and Language) to work on communication goals.
4.  Demonstrate the use of iPads to document progress and assist with evaluations.
Accreditation

This course is offered for 0.6 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level, Professional area.)

ACT48 Credits
PSHA is an approved provider by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to sponsor Continuing Education programs as required by ACT 48. This program is offered for 6 clock hours. Individuals attending the program must arrive on time and stay the duration of the program in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours.

Your registration fee includes beverages in the morning and lunch.  Lunch will be served during the career fair.
